Chelsea fans will love Reece James's comments about his first team start

Reece James has admitted he is only getting better and better as he gets more minutes for Chelsea this season.

The right-back had a superb season on loan at Wigan Athletic last season, however suffered a serious ankle injury while playing for England's U20s at the end of the campaign.

The 20-year-old missed the start of this season as he recovered, eventually making his first team debut against Grimsby Town and scoring in the 7-1 rout.

Since coming into the side, James has made 11 Premier League starts, with another six appearances off the bench and three starts in the Champions League as well.

His equaliser against Ajax remains the brightest moment of his young career to date, and James believes he is only going to get better.

"Ever since I’ve been back from injury, it’s been going pretty well for me," James told the Chelsea website.

"Obviously in the early days it was tough getting some minutes because I was still coming back from quite a bad injury, but as the season’s gone on I feel like I’ve gradually got better and improved.

"This is the club I want to play for and I have worked very hard to get to this point.

"I always felt that my ability was good enough and I’m just thankful that the gaffer has given me the chance to play."
