Chelsea fans will love Man United legend's Alvaro Morata dig before Atletico Madrid vs Liverpool

Manchester United great Rio Ferdinand has mocked Chelsea's Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata ahead of Liverpool's Champions League clash in Spain.

The Reds have made their return to where they beat Tottenham last June in the final of the prestigious competition.

Ferdinand was on punditry duties for BT Sport ahead of the contest and was asked by presenter Gary Lineker about the threat Morata could pose a Liverpool defence that has only conceded 15 goals in 26 matches in the Premier League.

Morata joined Chelsea in 2017 from Real Madrid but failed to impress at Stamford Bridge before going out on loan to Atletico last year, with the forward set to make the move permanent this summer.

Ferdinand was quick to insist that Liverpool will not have been worried about the 27-year-old prior to the match.

"The centre-backs for Liverpool would not have lost any sleep last night because of him," Ferdinand told BT Sport.

"I know he's their top goalscorer but I didn't see anything at Chelsea that made me think he'd be someone who you would worry about.

"He has got some decent movement but Liverpool should be able to snuff that out."

Atletico bagged the opener against Liverpool this evening as they shocked the Reds inside four minutes when Saul Niguez found the back of the net.
