Chelsea fans will love Dimitar Berbatov's praise for Frank Lampard despite Man United loss

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Dimitar Berbatov has backed Chelsea to bounce back their Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester United with all three points against Watford.

The Blues were on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline which saw them exit the cup competition at the hands of Berbatov's former employers.

That brought an end to Frank Lampard's side's seven-match winning run in all competitions.

However, it was a much-changed side that took to the Stamford Bridge field in midweek.

As a result, Berbatov doesn't think that loss will affect their purple patch in form and believes they should pick up all three points at the weekend away at bottom club Watford.

A win for Chelsea will help them close the gap second-placed Manchester City, although a top-four finish remains the number one aim.

With the Blues four points clear of Arsenal in fifth, a win at Vicarage Road could see them extend that lead further.

"I like the way this Chelsea team play," Berbatov told Betfair.

Chelsea vs Man Utd: Frank Lampard press conference in full

"Frank Lampard is giving chances to young players and, even though they lost to United, it's paying off. Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and the rest of this Blues team are playing good football.

"Watford, on the other hand, are in trouble. Since returning as manager, Quique Sánchez Flores has tightened up the defence and made them more competitive, but they still desperately need to get their first league win of the season.

"I don't think that'll happen on Saturday and Chelsea will continue their form at Vicarage Road."
