Chelsea fans will love Didier Drogba's social media message on 15th anniversary of him signing

Didier Drogba has posted a message on social media to celebrate the 15 year anniversary of when he first joined Chelsea.

The striker arrived at Stamford Bridge on July 20th 2004, for a fee in the region of £23m. The purchase came in the early days of Roman Abramovich's time as chairman of the club.

Drogba went onto make 381 appearances for the Blues over two spells with the club, scoring 164 goals. The Ivory Coast legend won four Premier League titles, three League Cups, four FA Cups and one Champions League during his time at Stamford Bridge. He was also the Premier League top scorer on two separate occasions (2006/07 and 2009/10).

The striker has taken to social media to thank everyone involved in the club, and one person in particular.

Already fifteen years ago they said you were crazy to sign me, you just answered: “ Judge him when he leaves the club." The rest is history," he wrote on his Instagram page alongside a picture with former manager Jose Mourinho.

"Thank you @Chelseafc thank you Mr Abramovitch, thank you José, thank you @PremierLeague and all the players I shared the badge with."

The 41-year-old has now officially retired from playing football, after spending the final season of his career with Phoenix Rising during the 2017/18 campaign, although he did appear back on the Stamford Bridge pitch when he took part in Soccer Aid last month.
