Chelsea have had to endure a summer of change but there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.
That light could come in the form of Mason Mount, who is one of the benefactors from a transfer ban which has stopped Chelsea recruiting this summer.
Maurizio Sarri left Chelsea for Juventus following the climax of the 2018/19 campaign and Frank Lampard took over but has had his hands tied behind his back due to the aforementioned transfer ban.
But Mount, who spent last season starring for Lampard at Derby County whilst on loan at the Championship club, has already shown his talent.
Mount bagged the opener in Chelsea's 1-1 draw at home to Leicester City on Sunday, with the Blues responding reasonably well to the 4-0 hammering at Manchester United a week earlier.
Curtis Davies, who played alongside Mount at Derby last season, insists that the world is at the midfielder's feet, with the defender providing a glowing verdict.
"He was top-drawer. He was a player who even from watching him in training for the first few days, I said he'd play for England," Davies told Sky Sports.
"It wasn't just the ability that he has, it was the combination of the ability with his awareness. You get players who have nice touches but he has that awareness for where the next pass is.
"He is fortunate enough now that he has gone back to Chelsea with Frank as his manager and he has continued the run he was having at Derby.
"He was very confident from the day he walked in the door at Derby. Playing the way Lampard wants him to at Chelsea, he is only going to do well in that side."
