Chelsea fans will love Billy Gilmour verdict provided by two Scotland greats

Scotland greats Ally McCoist and Gordon Strachan have hailed Chelsea young gun Billy Gilmour following his performance for Chelsea in the win over Liverpool on Tuesday.

Willian opened the scoring for the Blues in the fifth round FA Cup victory over Liverpool, with Ross Barkley bagging the second in the 2-0 triumph.

But it was Gilmour who earned the headlines thanks to his starring role in the midfield as he landed the man of the match.

The 18-year-old was only making his third start for Chelsea and he has since been praised by fans and pundits alike.

Frank Lampard on Billy Gilmour: He is small in stature he is huge in personality and talent.

Now the Scotland youngster has been tipped for success with his senior national side sooner rather than later.

"Do not pass go and collect £200. Get him in the Scotland squad immediately," McCoist told BT Sport.

"I listened to the radio last night and everyone was raving about his performance.

"That is great and from our point of view, it's fantastic.

"Let's not forget, he has also played against Manchester United this season. Frank Lampard and Jody Morris have got an enormous belief in him."

Strachan added: "He needs to be in the squad. He was playing last night against some of the best players in Europe. You really want him to go back and play for the under-23s?

"18 is not young to any other country bar Scotland. All other countries put them in at 18 and 19. Get him in."
