Chelsea fans spotted what Edouard Mendy did after Emerson Palmieri's goal vs Atletico Madrid

Chelsea fans are loving what Edouard Mendy did after Emerson Palmieri's goal against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

The Blues progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals after winning both legs against Atleti, the second of which last night thanks to goals from Hakim Ziyech and Emerson.

Emerson scored with virtually his first touch of the ball, coming off the bench in the dying minutes to kill off the game following a thorough performance from Thomas Tuchel 's men.

The Italy international has seen little action this season, even since Tuchel's arrival, but he proved he still has something to add by making an impact off the bench, rounding off a memorable night for the Blues.

Chelsea fans will have been delighted with the performance of their team on Wednesday night, and they were also shown just how tight-knight the current crop is.

Despite spending more than £200million in the summer and bringing in plenty of new bodies, and that often sees some disruption among squads.

However, that has not been the case at Stamford Bridge, it seems, with the Chelsea players showing their bond on Wednesday night, first with the Thiago Silva celebrating from the stands, and then with goalkeeper Mendy's celebration.

Mendy was pictured running around 100 yards out of his goal to the top left-hand corner of the pitch to celebrate with teammates after Emerson finished off the tie.

And Chelsea fans loved what they saw. Here's what some fans have had to say on Reddit and Twitter

V0lcano - "That joyful hop at around 3 quarters of the pitch really seals it for me."

SlowMobius7 - "Love to see it."

Tukinoz70 - "Love that."

@Boitemelo_MB - "It's his passion for me."
