Chelsea fans send message to Man United's David de Gea as Spain coach makes big decision

Chelsea fans believe Spain coach Roberto Moreno has sent a clear message with his team selection for the last European Championship qualifier.

Spain have already secured top spot in Group F with just the final game against Romania to go.

It is the second game in four days for Spain, and David de Gea has been selected for neither match.

Former Spurs loanee Pau Lopez played in the 7-0 demolition of Malta on Friday night without having to face a shot on target.

And with qualification already secured, a game against Romania could have meant an experimental line up from Moreno.

However, rather than stick with third-choice Lopez, Moreno elected to pick Kepa Arrizabalaga to start against Romania.

Kepa gave away a last-minute penalty in October's 1-1 draw away to Norway, with De Gea replacing him in goal for the following game against Sweden in Stockholm.

However, with just an hour gone, De Gea suffered a groin strain and was replaced by the Chelsea star.

With a battle raging between the two Premier League keepers to take the No.1 spot for the national team, Moreno's decision to go with Kepa for the final qualifier was seen by many as a backing for the Chelsea star over the more experienced Manchester United man.
