Chelsea fans predict Romelu Lukaku as Blues top scorer in our 2021/22 predictions survey

Chelsea fans are in confident mood ahead of the Premier League season according to the responses from a prediction survey conducted by football.london .

86% of responses predicted the Blues to finish top of the Premier League, with a further six per cent of fans predicting a second-place finish and just three per-cent of fans predicting a finish outside of the top three.

Boosted by victory in the Champions League last season, as well as a notable win in the UEFA Super Cup over Villarreal in Belfast on Wednesday night, the Blues support have the right to feel optimistic ahead of what promises to be an exciting campaign in west London.

Thomas Tuchel has also looked to address the forward issue at the club by signing Romelu Lukaku in a club record £97.5million deal.

His arrival at Stamford Bridge has meant that 88% of supporters have predicted him to be the Blues’ top scorer this season.

Six per cent believe that Timo Werner will find his goal scoring touch despite only finding the net six times in the league last season, whilst a further four per cent believe Kai Havertz will follow up his fine end of season form – which was capped off by scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final – by becoming this campaign’s leading scorer.

Blues fans were slightly more split on who they believe will be their surprise star, with 56% predicting Hakim Ziyech to continue his fine pre-season form with a number of positive appearances, whilst 28% think Werner will prove his worth.

Meanwhile, a further eight percent have tipped Callum Hudson-Odoi to stand out in what will be a breakthrough year at the club.

Hudson-Odoi was also named as the young player to watch by 61% of Blues supporters, with a further 30% backing Tino Anjorin to shine.

Their campaign kicks off at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, and it’ll be interesting to see which Chelsea player makes an impact from the get-go.
