Chelsea fans poke fun at 'hilarious' Manchester United fans over Harry Maguire VAR decision

Chelsea fans are enjoying an ironic laugh at Manchester United's expense this evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men were in Premier League action tonight, eventually beating Burnley thanks to Paul Pogba's second-half effort and move top of the table.

But one particular moment left United fans seething. The Reds thought they had taken the lead near the end of the first half when Harry Maguire rose highest to head home.

That would have meant United getting the breakthrough before the break, but the goal was ruled out due to a foul on Burnley defender Erik Pieters.

It appeared as though Maguire made little contact with the Clarets full-back, but even with a VAR review, the on-field decision from Kevin Friend stood.

And it's fair to say Manchester United fans were outraged by the decision, but Chelsea fans have been enjoying the frustration among their counterparts.

Blues fans believe United have benefitted more than most from VAR decisions this season, and based on that belief, the irony of United fans complaining about a decision not going their way is not lost on them.

Here is what Chelsea fans have had to say about the incident on Twitter.

Interestingly, as of last week, Chelsea had benefitted more than Manchester United based on overturned VAR decisions, according to ESPN.

According to the study, Chelsea have gained two points based on overturned decisions, while Manchester United have gained none due to an equal amount of decisions going and not going their way.

Though, of course, those statistics do not include the incidence where fans feel the on-field decision was wrong but where VAR has not opted to overturn the call.
