John Terry was back at Chelsea on Wednesday night and that turned out to be a painful experience for one player.
The club legend and former captain was in the opposition dugout as Aston Villa were narrowly beaten by the Blues at Stamford Bridge with Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount both on the scoresheet.
Taking to social media after the game, an emotional Terry sent a classy message to Frank Lampard, Jody Morris and the blues supporters.
"Incredible to be back at the Bridge last night and see some familiar faces," he wrote on Instagram.
"Very humbled and thankful for the reception I received."
As mentioned above, Terry's return to the Bridge ultimately ended in defeat, but fans have spotted something he done at the final whistle which might have revealed his frustrations at the result.
Pointed out on Reddit , at the end of the game Mateo Kovacic goes to shake Terry's hand and the Villa assistant head coach duly obliges.
However, that wasn't the best idea on the Croatia international's part.
This is because Terry appears to opt for a strong handshake which leaves Kovacic wincing in pain.
Kovacic will be hopeful of recovering from that painful hand injury to feature for the Blues against a struggling Everton side at the weekend.
The Toffees go into the game at Goodison park on the back of a 5-2 loss against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby - a result which has left them in the bottom three in the Premier League table.
Chelsea are at the opposite end of the standings and will go level on points with third-place Manchester City with victory against Everton.
With that said, it did finish 2-0 to the hosts in the corresponding fixture last season.
Goals in the second half from Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson were enough to give the hosts all three points on Merseyside.
But under Lampard, the Blues' away form has been impressive with their only defeats on the road this season coming in Manchester thus far.
