Chelsea fans noticed what Fikayo Tomori did when he started against Manchester United

Chelsea are not in European action this week, but there has been a Europa League fixture for fans to keep a close eye on.

AC Milan and Manchester United played out a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in a match that saw Fikayo Tomori return to England for the first time since leaving the Blues in the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old broke into the Blues team under former head coach Frank Lampard last season but fell down the centre-back pecking order following the arrival of Thiago Silva last summer.

As a result, Tomori was allowed to depart Chelsea for AC Milan - albeit on loan in order to get regular first-team minutes under his belt during the second half of the season.

Thomas Tuchel - Every change is for a reason

Significantly, the centre-back's decision to join the Rossoneri has already been vindicated as he's quickly established himself as a regular in Stefano Pioli's side.

Once again chosen in the Milan starting XI - this time against Man United - Tomori was given another chance to show Chelsea fans exactly what they are missing.

And it's safe to say many were impressed with the one-cap England international.

Whilst there were some question marks regarding Tomori's role in Amad Diallo's goal, the general belief is that the defender had a good game overall.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter as a recovery tackle on Mason Greenwood got several mentions...

@CFCChubbz said: "Bring back Tomori."

@keaano said: "Weird seeing Tomori in a Milan shirt at Old Trafford."

@moud_aman said: "Diallo is 5"7... he's 6"0 doesn't matter how it's put but Tomori really should not be caught there."

Prior to a ball being kicked at the 'Theatre of Dreams', AC Milan legend Franco Baresi hailed Tomori as "one of the most promising prospects out there".

"He is young and has played well so far when he's had the chance," Baresi told Sportsmail. "He is skilful and has great physical attributes. He is still adapting to the Italian league and I think he can only grow as a defender and help us out.

"He needs to be focused on the present and on doing well with AC Milan. The club will decide his future with the player and with Chelsea at the end of the season.

"There is great competition in England, but he is definitely one of the most promising prospects out there. His experience with AC Milan can certainly help him develop as a player."
