Chelsea fans noticed Timo Werner moment against Manchester City that sums up his luck so far

Timo Werner has so far struggled to replicate the RB Leipzig form that made Chelsea so eager to sign him, and there was one moment against Manchester City that summed up just the kind of luck he's having right now.

The striker made a £53million move to Chelsea in the summer, but has now gone 12 games without a goal as Chelsea continued their slide down the table after some fine early season form.

The Blues lost 3-1 to Pep Guardiola's side on Sunday, with Callum Hudson-Odoi's late finish scant consolation as Frank Lampard's team now sit eighth in the league, seven points adrift of Liverpool and Manchester United at the top having played a game more.

With the Blues still searching for goals late on in the game, City conceded a corner from which Werner attempted to take a quick set-piece and catch the visitors off guard.

However, the German international scuffed his effort after kicking the corner flag, appearing to injure himself in the process.

The Blues were allowed to retake the corner, though Werner was replaced by Mason Mount for the duty.

Chelsea fans were quick to notice the incident, which has summed up Werner's struggles so far at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea face an FA Cup tie against Morecambe up next, before Premier League fixtures against Fulham, Leicester, Wolves and Burnley before the end of the month.

Pressure is mounting on Lampard following four defeats in the Blues' last six games, and the manager will be hoping Werner will be able to find his form soon.

The 24-year-old was one of a number of summer signings that have yet to gel effectively in the team.
