Chelsea fans notice what former Blue Branislav Ivanovic did during Zenit Cup celebrations

Former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has led his Zenit St Petersburg to lifting the Russian Cup.

The 36-year-old left Stamford Bridge in 2017 after spending eight and a half years with the club, making 377 appearances in a Chelsea shirt.

He was part of the title-winning squads of 2010, 2015, and 2017 and the Champions League winning team of 2012, while also lifting the FA Cup on three occasions and the League cup once during a successful time at the club.

The Serbia international moved on from Stamford Bridge at the end of his contract and has since been playing in the Russian League for Zenit.

As captain of the club, Ivanovic led the team to the Russian Premier League title in 2019/20, winning the league 15 points ahead of closest rivals Lokomotiv Moscow.

And there was more success for the Chelsea man on Saturday when a 1-0 win over FC Khimki gave them the Russian Cup.

The win was sealed thanks to an 84th-minute penalty from Artem Dzyuba.

As captain, it was Ivanovic’s job to lift the cup in celebration.

However, as noticed by two Chelsea fans on social media, things didn’t go quite to plan.

Having lifted the trophy, the defender dropped it to the floor, resulting in the glass top of the cup being smashed into pieces.

But the accident didn’t dampen the mood too much as celebrations continued, just with the trophy missing a lid.

Chelsea will be hoping to follow in their former player’s footsteps in just a couple of weeks' time when they take on Chelsea in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Although, should they lift the historic trophy, Chelsea players will hope to be more careful during the celebrations.
