Chelsea fans name five left-backs Frank Lampard must sign to replace Marcos Alonso

Frank Lampard has a problem, and that problem is at left-back.

Chelsea supporters remain unconvinced by Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso and wish to see the Blues spend money on the position in the January transfer window.

Over on the other side of the pitch the hope is that Reece James can grow into his own role at right-back to become a homegrown fixture out wide for many years to come.

However, when it comes to finding a Chelsea left-back of the future the club will probably have to look to the transfer market for answers.

football.london asked supporters what they wanted to see from their team in the January transfer window and they responded with a number of suggestions to replace Alonso and Emerson in the new year.

The full list of left-backs in their sights can be found below.

In the same transfer survey Chilwell was named as the player Chelsea fans most want to see the club sign in the new year, even ahead of Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho.

However, Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled out selling any of his key players in the January transfer window.

Lampard may have to wait until the summer, and hope the Blues can peg back the Foxes in the Premier League to prove there is a brighter future at Stamford Bridge compared to the King Power Stadium.

When it comes to player sales, Alonso has been heavily linked with a move back to Serie A.

Antonio Conte is now manager at Inter and he is supposed to be interested in signing the wing-back, with whom he lifted the Premier League title in 2017.

Emerson could still have a role to play for Chelsea, if only as a back up to add competition in the squad to keep a new signing sharp.

Chilwell may be the top target for supporters but he's not the only name on their minds when it comes to sorting out the left side.
