Chelsea fans make Romelu Lukaku and Trevoh Chalobah demand ahead of Arsenal clash

Chelsea fans have demanded that Romelu Lukaku and Trevoh Chalobah start in the London derby on Sunday afternoon against Arsenal.

Both Lukaku and Chalobah have been two players on the lips of Blues supporters ahead of this second Premier League outing of the season, with Mikel Arteta's struggling north London outfit the opponents at the Emirates Stadium.

The Belgian signed for a club-record £98million from Inter Milan last week, while the Blues youngster hasn't cost a penny for Marina Granovskaia and in fact might have saved her and the rest of the Blues board £68million, after his emergence may have given food for thought in the Jules Kounde pursuit.

Early team news suggestions from Goal.com indicate that the much-loved duo will be starting in this much anticipated London derby, with both clubs in need of the three points for very different reasons.

Arsenal's 2-0 shock opening night defeat to Brentford coupled with Chelsea's 3-0 victory against Crystal Palace has made this contest very interesting, with the Blues heavy favourites according to the bookies.

But it's a London derby and the Gunners' last four competitive games against the west Londoners without defeat (excluding pre-season) indicates that the outcome of the contest may not be as straightforward as some people think.

Here's how a different selection of Chelsea fans reacted on Twitter to the news that both Lukaku and Chalobah could be featuring in the starting eleven.

@j1803 joked: 'Lukaku/Chalobah CB partnership?'

@Heza tweeted: 'Music to my ears.'

@chidimaaa has predicted a: 'Chalobah masterclass today.'

Despite the majority of optimism surrounding the news there are some fans who aren't keen on seeing the 22-year-old feature in a game of this magnitude.

@DevgonRohan commented: 'No hate to chalobah I rate him highly but I just don't think he should start ahead of azpi or James.'

@AmadiBenn questioned: 'So Silva, James will be benched just to accommodate Chalobah?

'You all are running mad!!'

@CFCTitus makes a good point to people showing their displeasure towards seeing the brother of Nathaniel being shown the vote of confidence from manager Thomas Tuchel.

He pointed out: 'Chalobah is the fittest of our defenders and you don't reward two MOTM performances with benching him the next game.'

The blossoming relationship between Lukaku and Chalobah is there for all to see, with the former praising the defender after he scored a beautiful goal on his Premier League debut against Patrick Vieira's side last weekend.

"It was such a great strike," Lukaku told Chelsea’s website via the Metro.

"But you know what, I think he’s been here since he was nine years old so to see him gradually coming up and then going on loan, coming back and now he’s just seizing his opportunity.

"In the Super Cup he was amazing and now in the league game he was amazing as well. So he has to keep pushing. Also, the goal was like the cherry on top of the cake."

Tuchel will hope that both players will be instrumental in helping his Blues side replicate the 2-1 pre-season win over Arsenal and at the same time, end the recent Gunners hoodoo that has haunted the west Londoners in the recent encounters.
