Chelsea fans in Bucharest reveal strange new chant for Marcos Alonso before Atletico Madrid game

The Chelsea squad arrived on Monday evening in Bucharest for the first-leg of their last-16 Champions League tie with La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid.

The team bus pulled up at the Blues accommodation to find a handful of Chelsea fans there to greet them as they stepped out of the coach and entered the hotel.

The fans welcomed the players with waves and calling out their names as they walked inside, but one player got a more personal welcome than the others.

Chelsea's Spanish wing-back Marcos Alonso was received with the unique chant of:

"Alonso be fast don't be slow, Alonso be fast don't be slow, Alonso be fast don't be slow"

Whether the fan's suggestion will be one Alonso take on board will be seen on Tuesday night at the Arena Nationala Bucharest.

Due to the Spanish government's restrictions on travelers entering the country, the tie is not taking place at Atletico's home stadium but has been moved to Romania, the second leg is still due to take place at Chelsea's home ground of Stamford Bridge on March 17.

Alonso will be hoping to start ahead of Ben Chilwell in the left wing-back role and prove to his Romanians fans that he very much can be fast and not slow!

Since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel at the Bridge Alonso has started four out of five league games and supplanted Chilwell as the first-choice wing-back.

Alonso fell out of favour under previous manager Frank Lampard and if he is involved on Tuesday evening it will be his first European appearance this season.

Lampard left Alonso as an unused substitute in four of the group games and did not include the Spaniard in the first two European ties at all.
