Chelsea fans heap praise on 'leader' Thiago Silva for his advice to Saul after horror debut

Chelsea fans have heaped praise on 'leader' Thiago Silva for his advice to new signing Saul after his horror debut for the club.

The Blues won 3-0 against Aston Villa thanks to two goals from Romelu Lukaku and one from Mateo Kovacic, but it was far from the ideal debut for new signing Saul.

The Spain midfielder, who completed a season-long loan move to Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day at the end of last month, gifted possession to Villa on a few occasions and Thomas Tuchel made the bold call to replace him at half-time and bring on Jorginho.

And now the Spaniard has revealed the advice he received from Brazillian centre back Thiago Silva following the match.

Speaking on Fabrizio Romano's Twitch stream, the Chelsea midfielder revealed it was the former PSG man who supported him the most after the game.

Saul said: "After my poor performance in my first match, Thiago Silva in particular supported me a lot. 'My first game with Chelsea was much worse, believe me and don't worry,' he said."

And Chelsea fans have been loving the story, taking to social media to praise the leadership shown by Thiago Silva.

One fan wrote: "Both were dreadful, but props to Thiago for doing that. That'll help Saul's confidence."

Another added: "This is the kind of energy we need in that team."

A third wrote: "Fair play Thiago. My respect for him grows everyday."

A fourth added: "Silva is class. Saul will be okay! Prem is a different beast.. All he can do is go up after that first performance."

"Such a leader.... Nothing to worry about kinda thing," another wrote.

During the stream, Saul added it is 'incredible' that Silva is still hungry and has energy at Chelsea despite being 36 years old.
