Chelsea fans have Sergio Aguero transfer theory after embarrassing Man City moment

Sergio Aguero's latest stop on his Manchester City farewell tour did not go to plan after the Argentina international was guilty of an embarrassing miss from the penalty spot late on in the first half against Chelsea.

Aguero had already garnered attention for an incident moments earlier, when he was handed a tap-in courtesy of a Gabriel Jesus pass, only to mis-control the ball - luckily for him, Raheem Sterling was hot in pursuit to convert and put City in front.

Pep Guardiola's side had the chance to double their lead and begin the title celebrations just a minute later, when Blues youngster Billy Gilmour was deemed to have fouled Jesus just outside the six-yard box.

Aguero stepped up, and opted for a 'Panenka' penalty kick, but Edouard Mendy was not to be fooled - the keeper remaining down the middle to leave Aguero red-faced as the shot-stopper made a routine catch to keep the score at 1-0.

Aguero's future after City remains unknown, with a number of reports linking him to Stamford Bridge.

These rumours were enough to prompt some sections of the Chelsea fanbase to jokingly suggest the Argentine had missed his spot-kick as he had Chelsea on the mind.

One Chelsea fan, @CFCBlueArmy12, took to Twitter to claim, tongue in cheek, "Aguero is already a Chelsea agent?"

Another, @seb3iii, said: "You can clearly see Aguero wants to sign for CFC."

@Scottibatous jokingly suggested it was an act of fair play from the striker before he swaps Manchester for London, writing: "Sportsmanship from Aguero there."

@wafufuke wrote: "I'm now convinced he did that so he could join Chelsea next season. Nice one there Sergio."

A win would confirm City's third Premier League title in four seasons, and Aguero will be hoping to ensure that his penalty miss does not come back to haunt his side.
