Chelsea fans have a Ben Chilwell transfer theory as Brendan Rodgers makes surprise decision

Leicester City are in action against Burnley this afternoon and Brendan Rodgers' team selection has got Chelsea supporters talking.

Following Manchester City's draw against Crystal Palace, the Foxes have the chance to move level on points with Pep Guardiola's side with victory at Turf Moor.

In addition, they could open up a nine-point gap between themselves and the Blues.

But could Brendan Rodgers' side be about to do some transfer business with the west London outfit before the January window closes in less than two weeks?

Well, some Blues supporters believe that's the case.

The surprise name not in the Leicester team to face Burnley is that of left-back Ben Chilwell who has been heavily linked with a big money move to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking ahead of his side's game against the Clarets, Rodgers ruled out a King Power Stadium for the England international amid links to Southampton's Ryan Bertrand.

"Ryan’s a player I know very well," he said, as reported by  LeicestershireLive . "We took him into Chelsea at 16 and he’s had a brilliant career.

"But we've got England’s number one left-back, we've got a fantastic senior professional here in Christian Fuchs, and we have James Justin who can play left-back as well.

"At this moment in time, it's not a position we would be looking at."

With that said, some Chelsea fans are adamant that something is going on behind the scenes.

Rodgers has stated that Chilwell was left out of the squad due to being rested after missing training sessions in the week.

"Ben's played an awful lot of games this season with international games and this week as well, he was unavailable for some training,” said Rodgers, as per Leicestershire Live.

"He's travelled with us, he's with the squad and we hope he's available for Wednesday's game.
