Chelsea fans fume at Frank Lampard over 'disgraceful' first-half display against Manchester City

Chelsea have put on a disastrous display against Manchester City this evening and fans are not happy.

Frank Lampard's men were three goals down by half-time after goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne despite going into the game as favourites due to the issues Man City have had with coronavirus.

Pep Guardiola had five players and two members of staff in isolation heading into the game, but his side have still come up with the good so far, netting three first-half goals at Stamford Bridge.

The first-half disaster comes amid intense scrutiny for Lampard following a disappointing run of form which has seen Chelsea win just one of their last five Premier League outings.

And it's clear Chelsea fans will not put up with much more poor form even with the credit Lampard amassed during his days as a Blues player.

That may be largely because the Blues forked out more than £200million in the summer on some of football's brightest talents such as Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech.

And still, Lampard's men look a long way off being title contenders. His side did manage a decent start to the season but their slump appears to be a lasting one and concern is starting to grow that Lampard won't be able to turn it around.

Here's what a selection of Blues fans have had to say on Twitter.

A defeat to City, which looks highly likely, would leave Chelsea in eighth position and seven points behind leaders Liverpool. who also have a game in-hand.

The question then will be whether Roman Abramovich feels Lampard can indeed turn things around and whether the Blues owner thinks the title may already be lost given the sizable deficit.
