Former Chelsea boss Avram Grant could be on course for a return to Stamford Bridge - but not as first-team manager.
The 65-year-old is being linked with a role behind the scenes at Cobham Training Ground, most likely acting as an advisor to boss Frank Lampard.
Grant last worked as technical advisor for Indian Super League team NorthEast United in 2018 but has also acted as an advisor for Thai club Police-Tero in 2014.
During his time as Chelsea boss, Avram Grant came within a penalty shoot-out of winning the Champions League, losing the 2008 final in heartbreaking circumstances to Manchester United.
Of all the manager hired by Roman Abramovich at Stamford Bridge, Grant boasted the highest points average over his tenure with a whopping 2.31 points per game - more than Jose Mourinho (2.19) and Antonio Conte (2.14).
Grant has also been a big supporter of Lampard during his time as manager.
Speaking only days ago, Grant said : "What I can say to Frank and the others at the club is be patient, and more than this do whatever is necessary to do that for sure.
"Two things - never lose it even when things are going well, don't lose your fighting spirit at the highest level. And second, don't lose what you have here [points at head], you need to think right and look for solutions.
"If you do that then everything will be okay because the quality is there and there is a potential like there was, during my time [at Chelsea]."
The Israeli managed Lampard during his playing days before going on to take charge at Portsmouth and West Ham, somehow without winning a trophy at the Bridge.
He completed his spell with Chelsea without losing a single home game.
And fans would he happy to welcome him back if his return would offer more support to Lampard during the final half of the season.
One Chelsea fan said: "Useful bit of experience here. I guess it suggests he really is invested in helping Lampard in all ways possible by adding this experience to back him up."
Another said: "He must come back to assist Lampard just like Mike Phelan at Man United," with Blues fan Victor agreeing, adding: "He needs to come to help Lampard. His experience will be of immense benefits."
A fourth added: "Grant is a good man. Has always loved Chelsea. He deserves it."
Grant's vast experience in management would no doubt offer Lampard a wise head to turn to in difficult situation but, should he land a role at Chelsea, it is likely that he will remain in the shadows, working hard but only behind the scenes.
