Chelsea falling behind in race with Liverpool and Man City to sign Kai Havertz

Chelsea are falling behind in the race to sign Kai Havertz this summer from Bayer Leverkusen, according to the latest bookmakers odds.

The 20-year-old has been tipped for a move in the next transfer window after once again showing his class in the second half of the Bundesliga season.

Havertz bagged another brace on Monday night in the 4-1 win over Werder Bremen, taking his total to eight goals for the campaign so far.

The attacking midfielder could well stay in Germany this summer and make the switch to Bayern Munich, while Liverpool and Manchester City are the favourites to take him should he move to England.

Betfair spokesperson, Darren Hughes said: "‘Football’s glorious return continued last night with some more Bundesliga action, but if Kai Havertz continues to impress as he did against Werder Bremen, the 6/1 odds on him to join Liverpool may well shorten considerably, with more reports suggesting the Reds have a keen interest in him.

“While Bayern Munich remain the odds-on favourites to sign the youngster at odds of 4/6, Liverpool are currently the second favourites to nab Havertz.

“A move to Manchester looks considerably less likely, but not impossible with odds of 16/1 for Man City and 20/1 for Man United, Havertz is sure to continue to attract the attention of clubs around the world with performances like last night.’’
