Chelsea eyeing £72m star to partner Romelu Lukaku as Barcelona planning for deal

Amid their challenge for their first Premier League crown since 2017, Chelsea might be looking to add to their current squad.

The Blues are currently in the thick of a battle with Manchester City and Liverpool but have recently stuttered slightly.

Two wins in their last five games in all competitions have seen a few doubts creep in at Stamford Bridge.

Fortunately, Thomas Tuchel has the perfect remedy for the Blues’ troubles and that is the January transfer window which is just a matter of weeks away.

With that being said, football.london takes a look at the latest transfer rumours currently doing the rounds in west London.

After signing Romelu Lukaku for a record fee in the summer, the Blues are apparently keen to add his former strike partner Lautaro Martinez to their ranks.

According to reports, the Argentine is on Thomas Tuchel’s list of potential attacking recruits but it might be difficult to prise him out of the San Siro with a new contract having been signed earlier this season.

Whilst Martinez could be on the way in at Stamford Bridge, one man who could leave is Antonio Rudiger.

The German defender is out of contract at the end of the season but having previously been linked with a Chelsea exit has admitted that he is not fazed by talk over his future.

He said: “There was also a lot of negative rumours and everything and stuff like this. I kept doing what I was doing. To be honest, I don’t get easily shaken.”

Barcelona are seemingly planning a move for Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen.

According to reports, the Catalan giants have a potential January move in mind having been left impressed with Dutchman’s performances on-loan at Coventry City so far this season.

He is yet to make his full debut for the Blues, with his contract set to run until the summer of 2024.
