Chelsea eye exciting £72m Romelu Lukaku reunion as Cobham star targets Premier League record

Welcome to our football.london CareFree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done transfer round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all.

Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Chelsea eye £72 million option to "compliment" Romelu Lukaku at Stamford Bridge as the forward has so far struggled to replicate the goalscoring form shown at Inter Milan.

A Cobham star can set a new club record in the Premier League against Everton on Thursday night as Thomas Tuchel's undroppable star proves once more how essential he is to the European Champions.

And finally, a potential January backup to Ben Chilwell is linked with other European names circling to challenge Chelsea's potential transfer pursuit.

Romelu Lukaku reunion

Thomas Tuchel has been trying to find the best solution to discover Romelu Lukaku's best form after Chelsea broke their transfer record for the Belgian in August.

And the Blues may be eyeing a £72 million solution to this with reports claiming Chelsea want Lukaku paired back with his former Inter Milan teammate Lautaro Martinez.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claim the European Champions believe both players "compliment" each other well and the Inter forward is an alternative option for Erling Haaland. But should the Blues prioritise the highly-priced Argentine goalscorer, struggling forward Timo Werner may have to leave.

Our view: Both Martinez and Lukaku formed a wonderful partnership in Serie A to help Inter win the Scudetto, however, the idea Lukaku needs assistance from elsewhere to find his best form is demeaning to his talent and also to the current Chelsea players who are good creators.

Money Mase eyes record

Mason Mount can set a new club record on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge after netting in his previous three league appearances for Thomas Tuchel.

A fourth against Everton would make the 22-year-old midfielder the youngest player to score four in a row for the Blues in the competition, via the Premier League.

Our view: It was a matter of when and not if Mason Mount rediscovered his best form for Chelsea after a challenging start to the season through injury, and as it's always been the case throughout his Blues career so far, when Mason is questioned he proves you wrong.

With more goals being added to his game, the generational talent is set to become unstoppable at Stamford Bridge.

Tuchel finds Chilwell backup?

With Ben Chilwell's ACL injury keeping him out until at least January, with the chance of it being the season too if surgery is required, Chelsea could potentially be looking for a short-term left wingback option in the transfer market.

Via reports from Fichajes, Chelsea are one of three clubs chasing the signature of Everton's Lucas Digne. Digne has fallen out of favour massively with Rafael Benitez which has led to speculation of a swift exit.

Atletico Madrid and Roma are the two other European clubs monitoring the situation which could become serious if Digne continues to be left out of Everton's lineup.

Our view: Digne feels like a figure who has been linked with us multiple times before over recent years, so it's unsurprising after Chilwell's injury that rumours are swirling of potential January options.

Digne is not an awful option given his Premier League experience, however, Chelsea should be fearful of acquiring a player they might not need if Chilwell returns sooner than expected, especially one that would just be switching one bench for another.
