Chelsea evening headlines as Timo Werner transfer condition set, fans send Kai Havertz message

Here are the Chelsea evening headlines for Tuesday, June 9.

‘I’ll name my child Marina’ - Chelsea fans go crazy over Kai Havertz transfer

There were reports this week that Chelsea are in the race for Kai Havertz, and that has understandably been met with delight among supporters.

The club’s strong start to the transfer window comes in stark contrast to last summer during which a ban prohibited them from making additions.

Chelsea have already secured Hakim Ziyech, and football.london has been told that the club is “highly confident” that they will trigger Werner’s £53million release clause before it expires on June 15.

Alan Smith breaks down Chelsea's move for Timo Werner and who they may look to next

If Havertz is next, it will be a sign of the club’s ambition for next season.

The news has excitement streaming through the fanbase, and George Smith has collated the latest social media responses here.

Owen Hargreaves disagrees with Michael Ballack about Timo Werner ahead of Chelsea transfer

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack believes Timo Werner would be a perfect fit for the Blues.

Werner has been heavily linked with Chelsea of late, and football.london understands that the Blues are “highly confident” that they will trigger the Germany international’s £53million release clause before it expires on June 15.

Werner is considered by many to be the most dangerous striker in Europe, and Ballack commended his former club’s decision to try and sign him.

“I think it’s a good decision for both sides,” Ballack, as quoted by Goal, told Sky in Germany. “For Timo, because he fits well, the way [Chelsea] plays football suits him.

“I think that in Chelsea he has decided on a club where he has a better chance of playing, which is very important to him.

“The team will be renewed, it will certainly be strengthened, and a lot of money will be spent in Chelsea to knock again at the top. A good young team is being built there, which is very promising.”

Owen Hargreaves disagrees, however, citing Liverpool as the perfect destination. You can read his reasoning here.

Lampard handed strict policy by Abramovich after Timo Werner agreement

Frank Lampard has been told it’s a one in one out policy at Chelsea after the club agreed to sign Timo Werner, according to The Sun.

The club are close to signing Timo Werner for £53million, but any future deals will depend on departures from the club.

The Sun believes two most likely candidates to be sold are Jorginho and N'Golo Kante.
