Chelsea evening headlines as Timo Werner talk angers Jurgen Klopp and doubts over Havertz deal

Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Saturday June 20.

Klopp gives testy response when asked about Chelsea signing Werner

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was clearly frustrated when questioned on Chelsea’s signing of Timo Werner.

The German striker was repeatedly linked with a move to Anfield, but instead opted to join the Blues.

Asked about the deal from a Liverpool perspective, Klopp said: “That's not really funny. We don't really speak about transfers we potentially do. And now I would speak about the transfer of Chelsea?

“Funny! Why should I do that? I have nothing to say about that.

“Timo Werner is a really good football player and yesterday I heard he has been announced for Chelsea next season. That's it.”

Premier League Match Preview: Aston Villa v Chelsea

Inside Abraham’s season on loan at Aston Villa

Football.london have taken a look at the year Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham spent on loan at Aston Villa.

It was a season that defined the young striker, who will return to Villa Park to face his former club on Sunday.

Abraham finished his campaign in the Midlands with 25 league goals to his name, playing a key role as Villa earned promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.

The 22-year-old hasn’t looked back since, impressing under Frank Lampard in the top flight this season.

“He had a difficult time at Swansea, but came to Aston Villa and almost single handedly got them promoted,” recalled Steve Bruce. “I wouldn’t be surprised by anything he does in his career.

“He has got a little of the lot, he can run, he’s a good athlete but he has this insatiable appetite for goals and he has the knack of finding space in the box. He’s a good lad too. He was willing to go out on loan and learn, and that’s a good sign.”

Lampard comments cast doubt over Havertz rumours

Frank Lampard has dismissed any suggestions that N’Golo Kante might be sold to facilitate a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz.

The 21-year-old midfielder is amongst the most coveted young players in Europe and has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

And there were suggestions that Kane, who has been on the radar of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, could be offloaded.

“N’Golo is one of the best midfield players in the world,” Lampard said. “He has everything I really want to work with.

“This season has been tough for him because of injuries. It’s nice to see him fresh.

“N’Golo is so important to us as a team. We need him regularly and hopefully we’ll have that now.”
