Chelsea evening headlines as Pulisic injuries are explained, Silva makes Premier League admission

Good evening, Chelsea fans. Here are your evening headlines for Tuesday, November 10.

Pulisic injuries explained by USA boss

United States national team boss Gregg Berhalter believes Christian Pulisic’s consistent injury problems at Chelsea could be due to the physicality and packed schedule of English football.

Pulisic has missed the Blues' last three games with a hamstring issue suffered in the warm-up ahead of the win at Burnley.

And Berhalter believes the winger's injury woes since joining Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund are because he is still adapting to the rigours of English football.

Lampard warns Chelsea not to get carried away

“I really see it as a young player who is just adapting to the demands of a different game, a different schedule,” he told Fox Sports when asked about Pulisic’s injury problems.

“When you get injured, when you have a muscle injury, it takes you a while to get fully fit and recover and this is part of his recovery process.

“I have no doubt that he’s going to be a player that is fit for a very long period of time when he gets through this period.

“Christian is in camp and is listed as day-to-day. It says a lot about Christian that he wasn’t playing for Chelsea but wanted to come into this camp and be around the team. His status is day-to-day.”

Premier League leaves Silva struggling with headaches

Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva has been left with headaches after Premier League games due to the intense nature of the top flight and the "non-stop aerial duels".

The 36-year-old Brazilian, who had never played in England before his summer switch from Paris Saint-Germain, has impressed for the Blues, helping Frank Lampard's side keep six clean sheets in his eight games.

But he says his strong performances have come at a cost.

“After my last two games, I've had a terrible headache because there are non-stop aerial duels and a very high pace of play,” he said via the Daily Mail while with the Brazil national team.

Silva also echoed the recent concerns of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and others regarding the current schedule due to the coronavirus pandemic.

'We have to constantly reinvent ourselves,” he added. “You lose players because of Covid-19 infections or there are others who get injured because we're playing a lot of games. We're not machines.”

How Chelsea’s new signings have performed

Following their transfer embargo in 2019, Chelsea made sure to invest in Lampard's squad this summer, spending more than £200 million on an array of players.

Now, two months into the new season, how have those news signings performed?

Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord has analysed the respective starts of the new Chelsea stars for football.london.

The early work of Hakim Ziyech, who already has two goals and three assists, has been praised. And Timo Werner, who has eight goals, is beginning to look like the prolific centre forward he was billed to be.

Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell and Silva have impressed in defence, and Edouard Mendy has provided confidence and composure between the sticks.

Kai Havertz is the only signing to have underwhelmed thus far, but Harbord says that, given his age and natural talent, there is reason to be patient with the £62 million man.
