Chelsea reach agreement for Mendy
Chelsea have reached an agreement with Stade Rennes for the goalkeeper Edouard Mendy to sign a long-term deal at Stamford Bridge.
football.london understands that the two sides have come to an agreement for the 28-year-old after an £18million was initially rejected.
It is believed that the Blues want to sign Mendy in order to provide competition for Kepa Arrizabalaga who has struggled in recent seasons.
However, transfer business is not expected to finish there with focus turning towards West Ham’s Declan Rice.
Ampadu reveals key conversation with Lampard before loan move
Ethan Ampadu has revealed that Frank Lampard held a key conversation with him before a loan spell at Sheffield United was confirmed.
The Wales international will spend the 2020/21 season on loan at Bramall Lane as he eyes development to ensure a future at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking to Yorkshire Live, Ampadu said: "I spoke to him (Lampard).
"I respect him a lot, what he has done in the game and him being the Chelsea manager.
"So when we had the conversation, he expressed the importance of playing games, which I expressed to him as well because in the last couple of seasons I had not played a lot.
“He said that he felt this was a good option. He gave me the confidence believing in this place.”
Giroud ‘determined’ to remain in contention at Chelsea
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud is reportedly determined to stay at Stamford Bridge and first for a place in Lampard’s plans.
As per reports in the Independent , the France international wants to remain at Chelsea and continue as part of the first-team set-up despite interest from other European clubs.
Juventus have been the latest side to be linked with a move for the centre forward who still has plenty to offer in a top European league.
However, the arrival of Timo Werner in this transfer window will most likely see Giroud fall lower down the pecking order.
