Chelsea evening headlines as Liverpool lead Timo Werner race and Jadon Sancho's transfer message

Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Thursday, 26 March.

Liverpool lead Werner race

Football.London’s Chelsea correspondent Oliver Harbord answered some supporters’ questions this afternoon.

One of the questions was about the red-hot RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and if there was any progress after a few links to the German.

“Another player who will be hot property this summer when it comes to transfer interest, but it’s not one for Chelsea fans to get too excited about just yet,” he said.

“Liverpool have been the one club who have led the line when it comes to landing Werner this summer.

“However, of course everything is still dictated about what might happen with FIFA and the transfer window.”

Rivaldo sends Chelsea target a message

Former Brazil star Rivaldo has sent a message to Chelsea target Lautaro Martinez, with the forward attracting interest over Europe.

One of Rivaldo’s former clubs, Barcelona, have also expressed their interest in the Inter Milan forward.

“Rumours say that Barcelona are considering trying to sign the young Argentinian attacker Lautaro Martinez from Inter, but I think that the 22-year-old needs to keep developing and gaining experience,” Rivaldo told Betfair.

“He’s already a valuable player for Inter, and could become a top player in the future, but he’s not ready for Barca."

Jorginho could move for “right offer”

The Chelsea midfielder has been instrumental this season and has established himself as one of the squad’s strongest midfielders.

However, Jorginho could be allowed to leave the Blues if the right offer did come in, Harbord also stated in his Q&A.

“There is no doubt that Jorginho has become a big part of the Chelsea squad in the past two seasons and has already become vice-captain,” he said.

“However, like a lot of players, if the right offer does come in for the Italy international then it could be worth taking the money for him.”

Sancho sent transfer message amid Chelsea interest

Former England striker Emile Heskey has sent a message to Chelsea, Manchester United and his former club Liverpool’s transfer target Jadon Sancho.

The Borussia Dortmund winger is thought to be subject of interest from Chelsea amongst other clubs.

Heskey has warned Sancho that he may not get too much in the way of game-time at Liverpool ahead of star players Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

“When you look at Jadon Sancho’s age, he will always be an asset to Liverpool,” Heskey said to GentingBet.

“In two or three years, you’ve got an ageing Liverpool side – even though in this day and age with the fitness level of all the players, age is nothing.

“But having someone young, fresh and dynamic coming in, it will only add to the squad and I think that is where Jurgen is going to be looking at next.

“You’d like to think that Sancho has the quality to get in the side but it will be very tough to get in ahead of Salah or Mane.”
