Blues in ‘final stages’ of Havertz deal
Chelsea are edging ever closer to signing Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz, with negotiations reportedly in their final stages.
Frank Lampard’s side have been heavily linked with a move for the attacking midfielder and while the two looked locked in a stand-off over the German club’s £90m asking price, it looks as though a deal will be struck in the coming days.
Journalist Kevin Palmer tweeted: “Chelsea are in the ‘final stages’ of negotiations over a deal for Kai Havertz. Discussions are focusing on the structure of performance related payments.
“It seems like this is a deal edging towards a conclusion.”
Chelsea open up spot for left-back
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea are moving closer to signing Leicester City's Ben Chilwell with developments expected 'this week'.
The Blues have long been linked with the Foxes left-back, with Lampard particularly keen to strengthen a backline exposed by the likes of Bayern Munich and Arsenal towards the end of the season.
With Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech and now Havertz all but secured, Chilwell is now a top target.
A perfect space is set to open for him too, with Emerson Palmieri expected to join Inter Milan once the Serie A side’s season is over, with an agreement for a five-year contract already in place with personal terms agreed.
Napoli lead race for Chelsea target
Serie A side Napoli now lead the race to sign full-back Sergio Reguilon, according to Calcio Mercato.
The 23-year-old, on loan at Sevilla from Real Madrid, turned heads last night as his side knocked Manchester United out of the Europa League.
And while Chelsea were linked with the defender, the report suggests the Blues have fallen behind Napoli in the race to secure his signature.
Chelsea will now switch their full attention to signing Chilwell from Leicester as they look to fortify their back four.
