Here are the latest Chelsea evening headlines for Monday, July 20.
Chelsea discover Jan Oblak fee as Marina Granovskaia weighs up transfer trick
It’s fair to say goalkeeper is something of a hotly discussed position for Chelsea this season.
The questionable form of Kepa Arrizabalaga means the Blues will likely be dipping into the transfer market for a new shot-stopper this summer, with Jan Oblak the preferred candidate.
The Slovenian is unlikely to come cheap, however, with Oblak’s release clause standing at a hefty €120million.
As George Smith writes, the best way to fund that deal could be by offloading Kepa back to Spain, with Goal.com reporting that Valencia are interested in the former Athletic Bilbao stopper.
Meanwhile, Rob Guest has looked at the players Marina Granovskaia could sell to help further boost the club’s transfer war chest.
Chelsea set price for Emerson Palmieri
Chelsea have set an asking price of £27million for Inter target Emerson Palmieri.
Frank Lampard has identified left-back as an area he wishes to strengthen, although Marcos Alonso has shown an ability to be useful when Lampard names a 3-4-3 formation. Given a choice, it is believed the Chelsea boss wishes to keep the Spaniard over Palmieri, who joined from Roma in 2018.
Interest in Palmieri in Italy is said to be high, with Inter Milan the latest team to be linked with his services. Now Tuttosport claim Chelsea will not be selling the Italian on the cheap, especially to Antonio Conte.
Citing tension between Conte and Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia, they claim the Blues are adamant over their £27million valuation.
Havertz not swayed by Champions League amid Chelsea interest
Kai Havertz will not be dissuaded from joining Chelsea, even if the club misses out on the Champions League, according to reports.
Havertz, 21, has been strongly linked with a move from Bayer Leverkusen and is now closing in on a move to Chelsea according to The Athletic.
The same report also claims the deal will likely sit in the region of €80 million after add-ons, with the specifics still to be decided. The German international is said to have been sold on Frank Lampard’s vision for Chelsea and is eager to be part of it.
