Chelsea evening headlines as Kai Havertz move progresses, Ben Chilwell gets warning

Here are the Chelsea evening headlines on Thursday June 25.

Havertz set to decide Leverkusen future

The Metro report that highly-rated Germany international Kai Havertz is set for showdown talks with Bayer Leverkusen this week, per German publication Bild.

The versatile 21-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder or a forward, has registered 12 goals and six assists this season and is expected to follow his international teammate Timo Werner from the Bundesliga to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Leverkusen have two all-important matches left this season, one final league outing that will decide whether they qualify for the Champions League next season and the DFB Pokal final against Bayern Munich, where he’s also been linked.

In amidst that, Havertz is set to discuss his future with the club, with strong suggestions he’s keen on a move to England.

Chilwell warned opportunities like Chelsea don’t come around often

Former Aston Villa and West Ham United midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker rates reported Chelsea target Ben Chilwell highly, suggesting he should take the opportunity to move if the Blues make an offer.

Frank Lampard expects Christian Pulisic to be big player for Chelsea

Chilwell, 23, has put in a number of impressive performances since breaking through at the King Power, and appears to have nailed down his place as Gareth Southgate’s first-choice left-back for England.

Reo-Coker has said if Chilwell doesn’t take the opportunity to move to Chelsea this summer, another chance like it might not come up again.

"He really has all the attributes it takes to be one of the greats in world football,” he told Sky Sports News.

"He gets forward, defends well, he's fantastic at one-on-one defending but also he has the ability to get up there and score goals and not many full-backs really have that ability.

"Some of them have ability to get forward and support but to also be a threat and scoring and contributing to goals for your team is another tremendous attribute to him.

"How happy is he at Leicester? What's Leicester's ambitions? Sometimes when the likes of Chelsea or Manchester City come knocking, they don't come knocking too often.

"It really is going to be a big decision but it's about where he sees his career, what he wants to pursue."

Pedro’s destination revealed

Chelsea winger Pedro will join Serie A outfit Roma on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer, according to a new report from Sky Sports.

The 32-year-old has extended his contract with the Blues so that he’ll see out the rest of the delayed end to the Premier League season, but depart when it eventually does come to an end.

Pedro has scored 43 goals from 201 appearances since moving from Barcelona in 2015, and won the FA Cup, Premier League and the Europa League in his time with the Blues. Here are the details in full.
