Chelsea evening headlines as Jan Oblak transfer interest confirmed, Jorginho loan exit plotted

Here are the Chelsea evening headlines on Thursday, July 16.

Juventus plot multi-year Jorginho loan

Jorginho followed Maurizio Sarri from Napoli to Chelsea and has long been rumoured to return to Serie A to play under the Italian at Juventus.

The latest suggestion, from Italian outlet Tuttosport (via Inside Futbol) is that the perennial Italian champions are looking to structure the potential deal as a multi-year loan rather than to buy him outright this summer.

It’s believed there’s a good relationship between the two clubs, and that Chelsea would be willing to part with Jorginho after he’s fallen down the midfield pecking order under Frank Lampard in recent weeks.

Jorginho himself is said to be keen to reunite with Sarri, having been a key figure in the possession-heavy style he’s previously instilled at Napoli and Chelsea.

Atletico coach confirms Chelsea interest in Jan Oblak

Diego Simeone’s number two at Atletico Madrid, German Burgos, has confirmed the rumours that Chelsea are interested in signing Jan Oblak.

The Slovenian international has put in a number of impressive displays since succeeding Thibaut Courtois between the sticks in the Spanish capital and is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

With question marks over Chelsea’s current number one Kepa Arrizabalaga, there are rumours that Lampard is looking to replace him at Stamford Bridge.

"If I only quote one who I would take with me from Atletico de Madrid, it would be bad, I have to name them all,” Burgos, who is leaving Atletico this summer, told Spanish outlet Marca .

"Look, the Russian (Roman Abramovich) wants to take Oblak."

Hakim Ziyech names the Chelsea players he idolised growing up

Months after being announced as a new signing for Chelsea next season, Hakim Ziyech has finally arrived at Stamford Bridge to get acquainted with his new surroundings.

The 27-year-old winger, a key figure in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-final last season, won’t feature until pre-season but has been in West London in recent days, meeting his new teammates and speaking with the club’s in-house media Chelsea TV.

“When you are a young guy, you always want to play for a big club, in the Premier League of course,” he said.

“And when I was young the players that played here. It was always a big club so I’m very happy and it means a lot.”

“I can remember I was playing in the youths in Heerenveen and we have some teammates, and he was playing [with] Drogba, Lampard, just all those big names, Terry,”

“We were always for Chelsea and look now, if you can play here, it means a lot for me.”

Here’s what he had to say in full.
