Chelsea evening headlines as Inter prepare N'Golo Kante offer, transfer hint dropped on duo

Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Monday, September 28.

New Chelsea goalkeeper will feature against Tottenham Hotspur

Frank Lampard has provided an update on a number of injuries and has confirmed new Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy will feature against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

The Blues will travel across London to take on Jose Mourinho’s side at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a place in the Carabao Cup quarter finals up for grabs and Lampard has revealed there could be a change in goals.

“[Edouard] Mendy and [Ben] Chilwell are in the squad tomorrow,” Lampard told reporters ahead of the match against Spurs.

“They are fit and we will see if they start or not. [Hakim] Ziyech and [Christian] Pulisic are not far away but they are still in a recovery phase. Too early for them both.”

Aston Villa boss drops transfer hint amid speculation around two Chelsea midfielders

Dean Smith has hinted Aston Villa could make a move for Ross Barkley or Ruben Loftus-Cheek with both Chelsea midfielders linked with a switch to the Midlands club.

Barkley and Loftus-Cheek have fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and could be allowed to leave the club loan, with Aston Villa believed to be in the market for midfield additions before the window closes.

“Midfield is an area we’re looking at where we feel we lack numbers,” Smith told the Express & Star. “There are many players who are speculated upon all the time and we are looking to add more to the squad.

“We don’t want too many more because we don’t want to be stockpiling players but we want to add some quality where we can. We’ve got John McGinn, Douglas Luiz, Marvelous Nakamba, Conor Hourihane and Jack [Grealish] who can also play there. But we feel he’s a bit more productive playing off the left, so we’re a little bit light in there. It’s certainly an area we’re looking at.”

Inter prepared to offer Chelsea two players for French midfielder

Inter still want to sign N’Golo Kante this summer and are prepared to offer Chelsea two players in exchange for the French midfielder.

According to the 90min , Frank Lampard is willing to let Kante leave in order to clear space and raise funds for Declan Rice, who is seen as a priority target, with Inter believed to be leading the pursuit of the 29-year-old.

It’s claimed Manchester United also made an enquiry about the availability of Kante earlier in the window, but Chelsea were reluctant to let one of their players join a Premier League rival.

Inter are prepared to offer Marcelo Brozovic and Milan Skriniar in exchange for Kante, with it reported that Chelsea have already expressed an interest in both players this summer.
