Chelsea evening headlines as injury blow confirmed and Mason Mount wins over Thomas Tuchel

Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Friday, February 5.

Defensive injury blows

Chelsea could be without centre-backs Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma for Sunday evening's trip to Bramall Lane to face bottom of the league Sheffield United.

Silva hobbled off after 36 minutes against Tottenham on Thursday night with a muscle injury after stretching to stop a dangerous Spurs attack during Chelsea's 1-0 win.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel said: "It will be very tight for Sunday. It is only in two days but it is hard to give a diagnosis because I saw him only very quickly in the dressing room with a big strap around his muscle.

"We will have to wait until tomorrow so we can confirm it but I think for Sunday he is a big doubt and I don't think that he can play."

Silva is the second Chelsea centre-back to have picked up an injury recently with Kurt Zouma also on the sidelines.

Mount wins over Tuchel

Mason Mount was not selected for Tuchel's debut in charge of Chelsea but it seems as though the 22-year-old has won his manager over.

Mount put in a superb performance away at Tottenham and was grabbed by his manager after the final whistle for a 'pep' talk following the 1-0 victory.

The England star has now started for The Blues in the past two matches and has helped his side to two victories in a row, with last night's win following on from the 2-0 home win against Burnley on Sunday.

Speaking after the match Mount revealed what position his manager had required him to play and suggested this may be a permanent change for him.

Tuchel has 'best job in the world'

The Chelsea boss said he and his players 'have the best job in the world' after his side won 1-0 against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The manager also revealed what he has learned about his new squad since taking over from Frank Lampard less than two weeks ago.

The German signed an 18-month deal and has made an instant impact in charge at Stamford Bridge. The Blues have taken seven points from three matches under his watch and have yet to concede a goal in the process.
