Chelsea evening headlines as Gerrard opens up on Billy Gilmour transfer, Olivier Giroud claim

Here are the Chelsea evening headlines on Friday, December 11.

Giroud makes team-mate admission

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has named his team-mates that are capable of picking out the best crosses for him.

Giroud 's heading ability, and first-time finishes in the box, are two of his best attributes and he has now spoken about the players he wants providing the crosses for him.

Hakim (Ziyech) is more likely to come inside and cross with an inswinger,” the France forward said to Chelsea's official website.

“With Reece (James), and Ben (Chilwell) sometimes but more Reece, he loves to cross with his first intention. He doesn’t need to go to the byline to cross the ball. The only thing is to be ready."

Ancelotti's influence on Lampard

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has already opened up on the influence Carlo Ancelotti has had on him, as he prepares to take on the Italian's Everton side this weekend.

Ancelotti was in charge of the Blues from 2009 until 2011 and in that time, and won the Premier League with the west London club in the 2009/10 season - with Lampard in the side.

Speaking in 2017, Lampard told Sky Sports this on the veteran coach: “He listens to his players and he wants to get the best from his best players because he knows that's how you win the league.

“Carlo created a great atmosphere, he got all the best players in and we went on a run late in the (2009/10) season. To finish the league we were winning 7-0 or 8-0, crazy scorelines."

Gerrard opens up on Gilmour links

Rangers have been linked with a loan move for Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour, but Steven Gerrard has rejected those claims.

Gilmour - who came through the youth ranks at Ibrox - has been linked with a move back to Gerrard 's side but the former Liverpool captain has played down the transfer rumours.

The Rangers manager said: “He’s a fabulous little player but there has been no contact between the clubs or the managers.

“I know Frank extremely well and I know his coaching staff extremely well. I think that’s just people putting two and two together and looking for stories."
