Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Saturday, May 16.
The Sancho agreement that could see him join Chelsea
There’s plenty of chatter about Jadon Sancho’s future, with it looking increasingly likely that he’ll leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.
The latest report from The Athletic’s David Ornstein suggests that Sancho and Dortmund have an agreement whereby the club will allow him to sign for another club this season if they receive a satisfactory offer.
Manchester United have also been heavily-linked for a move for the 20-year-old England international, who has 14 goals and 15 assists for the Bundesliga title challengers this season.
But Sancho is on the record admitting that he supported Chelsea growing up, and Frank Lampard’s Blues may well be able to offer him something that United can’t - Champions League football next season.
Blues ahead of Spurs in race to sign Feyenoord starlet
Football Insider report that Chelsea have moved ahead of London rivals Tottenham for highly-rated Dutch teenager Lamare Bogarde.
The 16-year-old is said to be monitored by a number of Europe’s leading clubs, having impressed for the Netherlands’ Under-16 team and Feyenoord’s youth teams.
His older brother Melayro Bogarde said he turned down the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal in search of first-team opportunities at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
It’s said that scouts have noted his mature performances as a centre-back, but he can also play as a defensive midfielder.
Out-of-contract duo to be offered extensions
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has suggested that Willian and Olivier Giroud will be offered contract extensions to keep them at the club until the extended Premier League season concludes.
The two veterans scored in Chelsea’s last match before the season was suspended, a 4-0 win over Everton.
“It is still uncertain if and when play will get underway. We have big players [out of contract] so that’s something I’m obviously looking at very carefully,” Lampard told Sky Sports News.
“The ones who are out of contract here have been great servants for the club, and actually have a lot of feeling for the club.
“Of course, they’ll be concerned about themselves, in terms of how training is now is and if the pre-season is a rush they’re going to have to make sure they’re alright.
"So, it’s going to have to be something we have to look at. Hopefully we can make that arrangement can be made so they can stay with us. I would love the squad to look as it has all season, but we’ll have to see how that works.”
