Chelsea evening headlines as Declan Rice offers fresh transfer hope, 'agent Zouma' gets to work

Here are the Chelsea evening headlines for Thursday, November 26.

Rice targets silverware to put Chelsea on alert

West Ham United midfielder – and Chelsea transfer target – Declan Rice has outlined how important he feels it is to win trophies in his career.

The 21-year-old England international has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge and while a move didn't materialise in the summer, there are suggestions the Blues may revisit the possibility of signing him next year.

And his latest comments will certainly be of interest. West Ham’s last major honour was the 1981 League Cup, while Chelsea have been the most decorated club in English football since Roman Abramovich's purchase in 2003.

"As a footballer, you only get one career and it goes by very quick," Rice told Sky Sports. "You want to be successful for club and country. I think it’s an important thing to win trophies.

"There’s talk of Harry Kane at Spurs and what he should be doing, obviously he can do whatever he wants. He’s going to win trophies we all know that. I think that’s something I want to aim for as well.”

Zouma’s pep talk to Camavinga

Chelsea centre-back Kurt Zouma could be seen talking with his France teammate Eduardo Camavinga after the Blues' midweek 2-1 victory over Rennes.

The 18-year-old midfielder became Les Bleus’ youngest goalscorer in over a century when he struck against Ukraine last month, and has established himself as a standout performer for Rennes over the past 18 months.

And Zouma’s words of encouragement were interpreted by some as helping lay the groundwork for a potential future transfer to Stamford Bridge, although Chelsea would face competition from several of Europe's top clubs.

"Sometimes you have to swing when you’re behind. We do it sometimes,” the cameras picked up the Blues defender telling his compatriot.

"When there is pressure, you lose the ball and a goal. Every time it’s like this! It happened against PSG, too."

Former Chelsea striker believes Giroud deserves a new contract

Tony Cascarino believes Olivier Giroud should be offered a new contract at Chelsea.

There are suggestions the 34-year-old could push to leave in January amid a lack of regular starts for his club.

West Ham, Tottenham, and Inter Milan have all been tipped to sign the striker, who is still regularly picked by Didier Deschamps for France.

Giroud showed how he can still be a valuable asset for Lampard’s first-team squad this week, coming off the bench to score an injury-time winner over Rennes on Tuesday.

“I like Olivier Giroud and I think Frank Lampard said it, he trusts him,” former Chelsea forward Cascario told talkSPORT.

“Lampard is totally happy with him. I’d love him to stay at the football club. He’s the second-highest goalscorer for France.

"He’s been an absolutely great asset for club and country. So Frank has told him what he feels and how he needs him.”
