Chelsea evening headlines as Christian Pulisic reveals his nickname and Lionel Messi admission

Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Tuesday, April 21.

Pulisic makes Messi claim

Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic has admitted he would "love" to be joined by Lionel Messi at Chelsea.

The USA international, who was signed by the Blues from Borussia Dortmund last summer, was speaking to the club’s official website about his ideal teammate.

And he revealed that Messi would be top of his list, as well as former Real Madrid winger Luis Figo.

Alan Smith's Chelsea Q&A on Kepa, Kante and the transfer market

"That’s tough, man! I mean Figo was my favourite player growing up but I definitely wouldn’t mind having [Lionel] Messi on my team. Can I choose both?” Pulisic said.

"My first footballing idol was definitely Luis Figo. He’s someone I looked up to when I was younger.

"The first shirt I owned was a Luis Figo jersey and I remember wearing it when playing football with my dad in the basement at home back in Hershey.

"In fact, my nickname then was actually Figo! My dad started it and sometimes he even still calls me it now."

How three loan moves helped Abraham’s development

Tammy Abraham has become a key player at Chelsea since returning from a loan spell with Aston Villa in the Championship last season.

And football.london’s Alan Smith has revealed how three loan moves - at Bristol City, Swansea and then Villa - helped the young striker explode onto the scene.

"All three of his loans carry similarities but important distinctions, each stop along the way as much about developing his game as his personality," Smith writes.

Analysis of Abraham’s shooting at all three clubs reveals the effectiveness in front of goal of Chelsea’s top scorer this season.

The 22-year-old scored 26 goals at Bristol City, eight in a less prolific campaign with Swansea and another 26 at Villa, before making the step up to the Premier League.

Pedro named in Messi’s ultimate XI

Chelsea’s Pedro has earned a place in an ultimate XI of players Lionel Messi has featured alongside.

The Argentine, who linked up with Pedro for seven years at Barcelona, was included amongst the likes of Victor Valdes, Dani Alves, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

The 32-year-old played alongside Messi 279 times while with the Blaugrana, more than any other attacking player.

It is understandable, then, that Pedro, who scored 99 times for Barcelona, was named in Messi’s list of his best ever teammates.
