Chelsea evening headlines as Christian Pulisic makes title claim and squad numbers confirmed

Here are the Chelsea evening headlines for Sunday, October 11.

Pulisic: Chelsea ready to fight for silverware

Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic has suggested his side could win the Premier League and Champions League this season.

The Blues spent big this summer, bringing in the likes of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner as they look to build on a fourth-place finish in Frank Lampard’s first season.

And Pulisic, who has just returned from injury, is confident that the new-look Chelsea team will be a success.

“We’ve brought in more experienced players this year with some new signings, and I think we also have a great group of young guys so I think it’s a really good mix,” he told CBS Sports .

“Last year was more of a transition year where obviously we couldn’t sign any new players, but we still had some of the guys who’d been there. What was great about last year is a lot of the young guys got a lot of experience.

"This year there’s definitely a boosted confidence, we’ve got an edge. We’re ready, we want to compete, and we want to win titles.

“Chelsea is a club with a lot of history that always wants to compete and win titles. Our goal is to finish at the highest standing in the Premier League and win every trophy available, Champions League included.

"We’ve got a great group of guys, we’re going to compete, and we’re hungry to win titles.”

‘Project Big Picture’ plans to impact Chelsea

Plans to reduce the Premier League to 18 teams and establish nine long-term shareholders are to be proposed, according to a report from the Telegraph.

Liverpool and Manchester United are the driving force behind ‘Project Big Picture’, which would effectively reshape the structure of the division.

Chelsea, along with the other ‘Big Six’ clubs, would become one of nine long-term shareholders.

That would make the Blues a part of a group of clubs dictating the direction of the Premier League, able to vote on regulation changes.

Project Big Picture includes a host of other changes to the division , including scrapping the League Cup and Community Shield.

Chelsea confirm squad numbers

Chelsea have confirmed the new squad numbers after a host of new arrivals in the summer transfer window.

The Blues spent over £200m bringing in the likes of Havertz, Werner, and Ben Chilwell.

And the exits of Willian and Pedro, as well as Michy Batshuayi’s departure on loan, meant there were some vacant numbers to be filled by the newcomers.

Here are all the numbers in Chelsea’s squad for the new season .
