Chelsea evening headlines as Blues repeat transfer method to seal Havertz deal, Ziyech's role

Here are the Chelsea evening headlines on Wednesday, July 15.

Ziyech could be missing piece for Blues

Hakim Ziyech was in attendance to watch Chelsea beat Norwich City 1-0 on Tuesday evening, and the Moroccan international could be exactly what Frank Lampard’s side were missing in that match.

The Blues struggled to break down a deep Canaries side, who defended resolutely, and the magic that Ziyech can offer is something to help in these situations, as Oliver Harbord writes

Christian Pulisic was bright once again for Lampard’s team, but on the other side, Willian struggled to grow into the match.

That’s where the former Ajax winger could come in - with his left foot being his preferred side, it could add another dimension to the Chelsea attack.

Two players Man United could be missing for FA Cup semi-final

Manchester United take on Chelsea this weekend in the FA Cup semi-final, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed two players who could be out of his squad.

Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams both came off in United’s 2-2 draw with Southampton on Monday evening, and the Norwegian boss has explained their current situations.

Solskjaer said : “Luke has got a swollen ankle. I’ll give him as much time as possible to recover. It was a twisted ankle. Brandon cut up his eye.

“I don’t really know. None of them trained yesterday, they were both swollen and I’ll give them as much time as possible to let the swelling go away.”

Blues using same method of previous transfer for Havertz deal

Having already completed the signing of German striker Timo Werner for next season, Chelsea could use the same method to target Kai Havertz.

That’s according to German football expert Christian Falk, who has said the Blues are using the same people involved in the Werner deal to complete the signing of the highly-rated Bayer Leverkusen attacker.

Speaking on the Football Ranks podcast, Falks said: “When Werner was coming to England, the agent of (Michael) Ballack, who also helped Ballack move to Chelsea, had his finger in the deal.

“I think some people in the background can push the deal a little bit more.”
