Chelsea evening headlines as Blues plan next transfer and Emerson's agent makes claim

Here are the Chelsea evening headlines on Thursday June 18.

Blues confirm Timo Werner signing

Chelsea have signed RB Leizpig striker Timo Werner on a five-year deal, it has been confirmed.

The Blues have managed to seal the signing of one of Europe’s deadliest forwards, who has scored 26 goals this season for Leipzig.

Werner had been linked with a move to Liverpool, but the Blues triggered his reported £50m release clause to secure the deal.

The Germany striker said: “I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club. I of course want to thank RB Leipzig, the club and the fans, for four fantastic years.

“You will forever be in my heart. I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us.”

Chelsea remain keen on Havertz

Chelsea are still interested in Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz despite signing Werner.

The Blues have been linked with Werner’s countryman in recent weeks, after an impressive season in the Bundesliga for the 21-year-old.

However, his fee could prove to be too much for the Blues – with £90m the price being quoted by Leverkusen. According to the Guardian, Chelsea may have to decide whether or not to pursue a deal for Havertz or Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.

As reported by Football.London, Ajax's Nicolas Tagliafico and FC Porto's Alex Telles are alternatives being considered should Chilwell's price tag prove prohibitive.

Bayern Munich have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign Havertz, but Real Madrid are still keen and could provide Chelsea with immense competition.

Emerson’s agent flirts with Inter move

Emerson Palmieri’s agent Fernando Garcia has hinted at his client moving away from Chelsea and potentially a move to Inter Milan.

The Blues left-back has been out of favour at Stamford Bridge under Lampard, and now his agent has flirted with a move to Antonio Conte’s Inter side.

Conte signed the Italian full-back in 2018 for the Blues and he has been linked to reunite with his former boss.

“There is nothing official with Inter, but we are certainly talking about a great club and Conte is a top manager,” Garcia said to FCInterNews.
