Chelsea evening headlines as Blues duo wanted for January moves and Havertz gives frank verdict

Good evening, Chelsea fans. Here are your evening headlines for Saturday, October 10.

Inter to return for Blues duo in January

For much of the summer transfer window, there was an element of expectation about impending departures at Chelsea. But not all of them happened as expected.

In particular, the left-back options who remained were surprising, given the big-money signing of Ben Chilwell for Frank Lampard’s team.

But they could yet move on in a couple of months as Italian outlet Tuttosport states Inter Milan will return in the January transfer window with an offer for one of Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso, per SempreInter.

Loan bids with options to buy weren’t “decisive” enough for the Blues to agree to in the summer, and no discounts will be on offer after plenty of expenditure of their own.

Antonio Conte is still keen to land at least one of the full-backs, however.

Is Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Fulham a good move?

Havertz’s honest assessment of start to life in London

Kai Havertz was the biggest signing of the summer for Chelsea, but he hasn’t yet produced his best form for the Blues.

The former Bayer Leverkusen star has a League Cup hat-trick, but hasn’t struck in the Premier League just yet and says he has struggled with the pace and intensity of the league.

"It was difficult for me, especially because the Premier League is a completely different league," Havertz said to the Chelsea website.

"It's more intense and I noticed that in the first few games.

"It has gone pretty well for me recently but I think there is also still a lot of potential upwards.

"I want to exploit that in the next few weeks and months.”

Havertz also pointed to the need to settle into life in London on a personal level after leaving his family but has vowed to improve as the season goes on.

Silva proves he's a true Blue

New signing Thiago Silva is expected to play a big role across the season for Chelsea and he’s making it clear that he already sees the Blues as a huge part of his life.

The defender is currently away on international duty, but ahead of Brazil’s game on Saturday morning he posted a message to social media showing custom-designed shinpads - which include the Stamford Bridge club’s badge on them.

That logo, plus the Brazil flag under them, highlights he remains a committed for-club-and-country player, and he’ll surely continue to be a key starter for Lampard going forward.
