Here are the Chelsea evening headlines on Wednesday June 17.
Bayern not pursuing Havertz
Frank Lampard’s Chelsea have been handed a boost in their attempts to sign Kai Havertz this summer, as German outlet BILD report the player will not be joining Bayern Munich.
It had been widely expected that Munich would be a probable destination for the 21-year-old if the German champions made him a transfer target.
However, the Bayer Leverkusen man will not be making the switch to Bavaria, Bayern instead favouring a move for Leroy Sane, meaning his next destination could still be Stamford Bridge.
Havertz has been in electric form since the beginning of the 2018-19 season, scoring 28 league goals in the same period, according to WhoScored.com. He has developed into a supremely talented false nine for Leverkusen and looks set to be a star of the German national team for years to come.
Chelsea have already been in the market for one of the Bundesliga’s standout performers this season, agreeing a deal for RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.
Adding Havertz – along with AFC Ajax technician Hakim Ziyech – could restore Chelsea’s title credentials ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Wonderkid training with Chelsea first-team
Ahead of the likely departures of Willian and Pedro this summer, Frank Lampard has enlisted teenage winger Tino Livramento to join in first-team training.
The 17-year-old wideman has been pictured with the Chelsea first team ahead of the return to Premier League action this weekend.
Livramento has been involved in the club’s U23 and U19 setups this season, appearing on numerous occasions in Premier League 2, the U18 Premier League and starting every game in their successful FA Youth Cup run.
Typically appearing on the right-hand side of a 4-2-3-1, Livramento gaining experience training with the seniors could stand him in good stead if he were to be called upon next season.
Lampard has given plenty of opportunities to young players during his tenure at the club, with the former England international using eight teenagers across all competitions this season.
Livramento agreed to a first professional contract on his 17th birthday back in November, committing his future to the club until June 2022.
John Terry admits choosing Chelsea ‘divided’ his family
Former Blues captain and Chelsea legend John Terry has revealed his choice to join the club as a youngster did not sit well with his father at the time.

His admission came in the Footballer’s Guide to Football podcast, in which he stated: “I had the option between Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.”
Terry ultimately opted to sign for Chelsea from West Ham United’s academy setup, much to the dismay of his father Ted, who had intended for his son to join Manchester United - who at the time had won two of the first three Premier League titles.
Young Terry remained adamant Chelsea was the right club and went on to play 492 Premier League games for the Blues between 1998 and 2017.
