Chelsea evening headlines as Aaron Ramsey linked with surprise Jorginho swap deal

Here are your Chelsea evening headlines for Thursday July 9.

Ramsey linked with stunning Stamford Bridge move

Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey could be set for a dramatic return to the Premier League with Chelsea after leaving London last summer.

According to Tuttosport , via the Daily Star , Juventus boss Mauricio Sarri is keen to sign Jorginho - and Ramsey, who moved to Turin on a free transfer when his contract expired, could be used in a swap deal.

The Italian has been out of favour under Frank Lampard since the restart and it has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge on several occasions in recent weeks.

If that is the case, Ramsey could be a key part of making a swap deal happen.

Germany chief makes Havertz Real Madrid statement amid Chelsea interest

Real Madrid would be the perfect destination for Kai Havertz this summer rather than Chelsea, according to German national team sporting director Oliver Bierhoff.

The 21-year-old has been widely linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the coming months to add to the signings of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech that have already got Blues supporters excited.

However, the sporting director believes that the forward would be better off moving to the Spanish capital with Real Madrid.

“He's a player for Real Madrid,” the Germany chief told Marca .

“I know, but I mean it. He's a player for Real Madrid. He's very young, but has everything - talent, technique, physique...He's a complete player who will be very important for us, but he has to keep growing."

Why Lamptey left Chelsea in favour of Brighton switch

Tariq Lamptey registered yet another impressive performance in the Premier League despite his Brighton side losing 3-1 to Liverpool on Wednesday night.

The former Chelsea man has caught the eye of many Premier League fans with notable displays in four consecutive top-flight starts under Graham Potter.

While there is growing noise around Stamford Bridge that they should have tried to keep hold of the right-back, Alan Smith notes that the Blues had tried to do that, but the youngster was eager to prove his worth.

Both Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James stood in the youngster’s way of being guaranteed any degree of first team football under Lampard which led Lamptey to seeking pastures new. His recent showings for Brighton prove why he was right to find game time elsewhere given the limited opportunities at Chelsea.
