Chelsea: Estevao tipped to win Ballon d'Or after outshining Vinicius Jr for Brazil

Estevao continued his sparkling run of form for Brazil with another goal, having been told he could soon find himself in Ballon d'Or contention.

The Chelsea winger equalised from the spot in the 1-1 draw with Tunisia on Tuesday, making it two goals in as many matches during the international break.

Estevao only scored his first senior international goal in September but he now has five goals to his name in five starts. Vinicius Jr, in comparison, has scored eight times in 44 caps.

The 18-year-old's impressive display came as no surprise to Tunisia boss Sami Trabelsi, who ahead of the match described Estevao as a "genius" on his way to becoming one of the best players in the world.

"I think he's a new football genius emerging, very young," Trabelsi said.

"I think he's doing very well and he's a player who can be expected to be among the greats, among the best in the world, certainly, in the coming years.

"If he manages to have good performances or win titles, whether with his club or national team, he will be among the players who, in the coming years, could even compete for the Ballon d'Or."

Estevao nearly won the match with the final kick of the match in stoppage time.

He drove into the box, beat his man and dragged a shot towards the far corner, but it flicked off the post and away to safety.

The teenager could already have had a second goal by that point, but Carlo Ancelotti opted to have Lucas Paqueta take Brazil's second penalty of the match.

Paqueta ballooned his spot-kick over the bar, in stark contrast to the confident finish of Estevao earlier in the match.

"When the second penalty came, I made the change because I thought it would take some of the pressure off Estevao, and Paqueta usually takes them very well," Ancelotti said.

Estevao has started only four Premier League matches for Chelsea this season but has still registered a goal and an assist.

He scored a dramatic late winner against Liverpool and has also netted twice in the Champions League.
