Chelsea drop Marquinhos and Kounde chase for de Ligt as swap deal for Reece James possible

Welcome to our football.london Carefree Chelsea daily news round-up. Maybe not the first, we've definitely done news round-ups before, and European round-ups, so I guess in some ways it's not that new at all. Anyway, we thought we would enter the world of football in a broad and roundabout manner for you and have some fun with some of the stories and captions doing the daily rounds.

Chelsea prioritise de Light interest

According to reports Chelsea are willing to drop interest in Sevilla’s Jules Kounde and Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos.

Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt as per the reports is now their number one target for a defender. After failing to acquire Kounde in the summer transfer window and the sale of Kurt Zouma to West Ham, Chelsea will be looking to bolster their back-line.

Thomas Tuchel per the report by RMC Sport was interested in bringing Brazillian defender Marquinhos, which would be a good partnering with his international colleague Thiago Silva at Chelsea.

But Calciomercato has said that Matthijs de Ligt is now the club’s top target. After the end of this season de Ligt will only have two years left on his contract at Turin, which could get him thinking about his future.

Club could swap Reece James for Madrid players

Real Madrid are reportedly interested in full-back Reece James after impressive performances for Chelsea and England.

However, the Daily Express has reported that the club could ask for as many as four players in return for the 21-year-old player. Madrid will be looking to replace long-term right-back for the club, Dani Carvajal.

But, James is an important part of Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea squad, already making a number of good performances for the side this season. The report states that if the club does allow James to leave it will have to at the cost of Madrid letting some of their own players go to the West London club.

Marco Asensio, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Vinicius Junior are all players that could possibly work at Stamford Bridge per the Daily Express.

Jorginho could have opted for Man City

Speaking before Chelsea’s game at home against Manchester City, Jorginho told BT Sport that he was close to signing for the Citizens in 2018.

Before the Italian midfielder joined Chelsea three years ago, he explained how he very nearly joined Manchester City: “It was close but it didn’t happen. It’s how it works in football sometimes.

“I’m very, very happy at Chelsea. It’s a massive club and everyone here at the moment, the atmosphere is so good because everyone is humble.

“That’s why everything is going so well.”
