Chelsea dressing room 'shocked by Tammy Abraham snub' but Thomas Tuchel has last laugh

The Chelsea dressing room were reportedly left shocked by Thomas Tuchel's decision to leave Tammy Abraham out of his 20-man squad to take on Manchester City this Saturday.

But the Blues boss had the last laugh by guiding the south-west London side to the FA Cup final as Chelsea beat the Citizens 1-0 at Wembley without Abraham.

Abraham is Chelsea's leading goalscorer in the FA Cup this season having found the back of the net four times in the competition.

Tuchel was able to name up to nine substitutes for the semi-final clash but was still unable to find room for the fit-again England international.

The Chelsea manager's decision to snub Abraham shocked some of the striker's teammates, according to The Telegraph.

It has also cast doubts over Abraham's future at Stamford Bridge now that he is seemingly fourth choice behind the likes of Kai Havertz, Timo Wener and Olivier Giroud.

Tuchel said ahead of the match: "There isn't much on Tammy but he's lost a little bit of confidence recently and we've taken the hard decision to leave him out today.

"It was a tough decision but we decided to go with Timo, and with Kai and Oli Giroud from the bench. We have other injured players missing today, which would mean even more hard decisions."

Tuchel's Chelsea were able to get a result on Saturday without Abraham to progress to the final.

Hakim Ziyech scored the only goal of the contest 10 minutes after the restart with Chelsea dominating the vast majority of the game.
