Chelsea discuss triple Barcelona transfer as Blues handed huge Frenkie de Jong transfer boost

Few teams have crossed paths quite like Chelsea and Barcelona have over the course of the summer transfer window so far. The two sides have continually battled it out for their transfer targets in the market, with the La Liga club just about getting the upper hand so far.

Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde and Kalidou Koulibaly have all been subject of links with either side, with the Blaugrana landing three of those targets to the Blues' one. While the two have clashed in the market at this point, talks between the two may have to pick up to land targets from the clubs.

Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso have both been rumoured with a switch to Spain, while midfielder Frenkie de Jong could move the other way. This would require plenty of negotiations though, given the financial position of Barca and the complexity of their transfer business so far.

De Jong continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United interested and making a move. However, reports have suggested that their £71million transfer valuation has since been reduced in a huge boost to Chelsea, with Thomas Tuchel looking to bolster his midfield.

As for Alonso and Azpilicueta, the duo have been monitored by Barcelona, with the Blues setting a new price tag for their departure. Sport claims that Chelsea have requested roughly £20million combined, but Xavi's side aren't willing to go over £8.4million, given their financial troubles.

It remains to be seen at which point they would be allowed to leave in negotiations, with Thomas Tuchel claiming he is a "little bit annoyed" by Barcelona and the time they are taking in getting a deal done for Azpilicueta. "At some point it is about what we want," the German coach said about a move last month.
